BIG Dreams

Spanish website trailridersmag.com quotes a direct source from Suzuki to claim Suzuki is working on breathing life back in to the DR Big. According to rumour – and it’s only rumour at this stage – the DR Big will be based on the V-Strom 1000 engine and chassis.

The enthusiastic gossip doing the rounds of websites says a 100-horsepower bike with a 21-inch front is in the planning, and that it will be a more off-road ready bike than the V-Strom 1000. Spoked wheels, a 20 litre fuel tank, higher ground clearance than the V-Strom and a high exhaust are all part of the deal. The suspension travel should be longer, and the ABS should be switchable for off-road.

The new DR Big is expected to run at around same weight as the V-Strom 1000 (about 230k) wet and use the ‘Strom’s twin-spar type frame. A couple of riding modes and two levels of traction control are also part of the guestimations.
