Turkish Treasures | April 2020

One of the oldest permanently settled civilisations on the planet, this destination has some serious history. And it’s just waiting to be discovered by you on our motorcycle tour across Turkey.

We start our safari in Istanbul – the crossroads between Europe and Asia. We’ll make the pilgrimage to Gallipoli and Anzac Cove as we ride the western half of Turkey.  We’ll visit ancient Troy, along with arguably the world’s best-preserved Roman ruins at Ephesus. We’ll ride the Aegean, Mediterranean and the Black Sea coastlines. We spend a few days in the surreal landscapes of Cappadocia, where we can take a hot air balloon ride. We find underground cities, Crusader castles, Hadrian’s Wall, sensational forests, and the best cuisine you’ll ever taste. This motorcycle safari covers everything you’ll need to experience this exotic land!

When:

13 April – 3 May 2020

A moving experience – Gallipoli

We spend a morning examining the battlefields, tunnels and trenches of Anzac Cove and Shrapnel Valley, monuments such as Lone Pine, Chunuk Bair and Ari Burnu. Particularly moving is a monument erected by Kemal Ataturk paying tribute to all the young sons who lost their lives on both sides of the conflict.

Delicious Turkish Cuisine

Another highlight on tour (if there weren’t enough already) is the cuisine. The food is simply delicious and every dish has real flavour, a rare thing in many parts of the world. This month we give you a tasty and healthy dish that is perfect for summer bbq’s – Swordfish Skewers.  Click here for the recipe.

Highlight Reel

Check out the 5-minute compilation video of our Turkish Treasures tour, produced by well known Aussie journalist Mick Matheson…

“Two of the most amazing and enjoyable travel experiences of my life were tours around TURKEY with WOW, the second with my two children and friends to celebrate my 70th birthday. Istanbul is my favourite city in the world. You travel with a group of like-minded people, around this beautiful country, enjoying stunning and diverse scenery, with history and adventure at every turn. Each day you don’t think it can get any better, then it does.”

In the diary for January 2020

An invite will be coming your way in December (with more details) but in the meantime … ensure you keep Australia Day weekend (26th January) free for the famous WOW Annual Party and Tree Planting, on the Northern Beaches of Sydney.  What a good excuse for a ride and as always dinner is on us 🙂

We use and recommend Aussietravelcover insurance. Unlike many other providers, they offer comprehensive travel insurance which covers the riding of motorcycles above 250cc. Not only can you organise a policy through us for your next WOW tour but as a preferred agent, we can also organise cover on any overseas trips where you need peach of mind while travelling.
